Director of the Czech Development Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Program of International Development Cooperation in Ukraine
On December 2nd, Director of the Czech Development Agency, Mr. Michal Kaplan, together with the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ms. Inna Sovsun, and with other partners signed Memorandum of Understanding for the Program of International Development Cooperation of the Czech Republic in Ukraine. On this occasion additional memoranda for sub-projects of the Program were signed as well at the Czech Embassy in Kiev.
The Program “Modernization of Public Education System in Ukraine” establishes a framework for all development projects in Ukraine coordinated by the the Czech Development Agency. The program of cooperation between the Czech Republic and Ukraine is built on three pillars:
- Technical assistance with the reform of education system includes projects focused on capacity building of central institutions of the Ukrainian government. These projects specializes in the area of collecting and processing statistical data, school records and preparation for international comparative studies in education. Czech public institutions are involved in these activities.
- Promotion of the transition of Ukrainian universities towards the European standards includes cooperation projects between Czech and Ukrainian universities. These projects are aimed at assisting with implementation of democratic principles in university self-government bodies, at capacity building of students in the context oftheir participation ininternational mobility programs for students and the preparation of new study programs.
- Material assistance to displaced educational institutions, especially to universities from Luhansk and Donetsk regions, is ensured by reconstruction of the university buildings and by supplying IT equipment. These projects are implemented by Czech as well as Ukrainian companies.
The development cooperation with Ukraine coordinated by the Czech Development Agency and the humanitarian response provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic are ensured thanks to the emergency assistance to Ukraine provided by the Czech government.
