18.11.2013
On the 13th of November 2013 the final ceremony of the Bosnian veterinary laboratories staff training was held in Sarajevo. The staff of the laboratories recieved the certificates for absolving the training within the activity of the FARMA project which is jointly implemented by the USAID, Sida and CzDA.
In frame of the project, the Czech Development Agency together with the State veterinary institute of the Czech Republic, provided a training for the staff of the Bosnian veterinary laboratories. The director of the CzDA Mr. Michal Kaplan, director of the USAID mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. David J. Barth and director of the Sida mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Pelle Persson handed over the certificates to the staff of the Bosnian veterinary laboratories. The representatives of the three development agencies have expressed their satisfaction with the existing cooperation and agreed that the project is a good example of the donor coordination activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The project is important for the country namely in terms of the EU association process, because it helps the agricultural sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina to meet the criteria of the EU for the export of the animal and vegetable products. In the last decades Croatia has been the traditional country for the export from Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the accession of Croatia to the EU in 2013 the Bosnian export has decreased significantly. The only two commodities which can be currently exported to the EU from Bosnia and Herzegovina are honey and fish. The project should enable Bosnia and Herzegovina to export also milk and milk products.
