Autism is one of the most serious disorders of childhood mental development. However, the awareness of autism in Georgia is low and there are limited care options. The project builds on a previous project running in 2015-2018 and uses the results of a successful intervention in this area at that time. In particular, it continues to build the capacity of local professionals, through training on the protocol for identification, diagnosis and management of ASD and the different diagnostic and therapeutic tools. It is also focusing on service development, and increasing the number of municipalities providing services as part of the decentralization of service provision and diversification of funding mechanisms and sources.
