Junák – Czech Scout is an organization striving for holistic education that leads to a responsible attitude towards oneself and the world. In the face of ongoing climate change, Junák is therefore dealing with the question of how to approach it. The project will help to develop a plan on how to integrate the topic of climate education into the troop’s curriculum and how to foster competences for active global citizenship.
The project will develop and test an educational weekend programme on restoring diverse landscapes and adapting to climate change with the participation of several Junák methodological groups. The project will be based on a stay at good practice sites – farms from the Diverse Landscapes programme and will activate participants to implement their own community project. For this, the troops will be helped by a pair of workshops on project management and expert consultation. The project will be accompanied by an information campaign through social media and Scouting periodicals, reaching at least a quarter of the membership.
The project is directed inwards to the Junák organisation, but given the size of the organisation it is highly relevant as it will affect tens of thousands of children and their parents in the long term. The project is implemented by the Scout Institute as a branch of Junák – Czech Scout.
