Based on geological surveys Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically its autonomous entity Republika Srpska, has a promising geothermal potential that can be used for structure heating. Based on these findings, the project focuses on improving the environment and quality of life in the municipality of Doboj through the implementation of renewable geothermal energy source and its subsequent utilization as a heating supply. The village of Ševarlije has been selected as the most suitable location for the project since Ševarlije´s population consists predominantly of returning refugees and has a significant potential when it comes to the utilization of geothermal energy. In the first phase, the project focused on geophysical data gathering, field measurements and a follow-up work on geothermal wells in Doboj municipality. The second phase has been undergoing since 2016 and concentrates on linking primary school facilities in the village of Ševarlije to the geothermal heating source.
