About the Czech Development Agency:
- The Czech Development Agency (CzDA) is a state organizational unit under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, established by Act No. 151/2010 Coll. for the implementation of foreign development cooperation (FDC).
- The CzDA manages an annual budget of approximately CZK 420 million from the state budget and implements foreign development cooperation projects in partner countries.
- The CzDA is accredited for the implementation of delegated cooperation projects financed by the European Commission and is currently managing projects with a total budget of around CZK 300 million.

About the position:
We are seeking a qualified, independent and skilled consultant with technical expertise in landscape and ecosystem conservation and restoration, landscape planning, sustainable landscape management, natural resources management (especially soil, water and forest), landscape adaptation to climate change and forest ecosystem management to join our team.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with ILM practices in EU or international contexts, which can be transferred and adapted to support the Zambian institutional and technical conditions.
In addition to providing technical assistance to Zambian authorities across sectors, the position will involve working with and coordinating with local and international experts as appropriate. The position requires long-term presence in Zambia – either:
- Via relocation to Lusaka or
- Via frequent long-term business trips from the place of residency to Lusaka (minimum of 9 months per year in Zambia).
The ongoing „Sustainable Landscape through Integrated Management“ (SLIM) project focuses on landscape planning, support and capacity building in geo-information services and remote sensing of the country, development of forest management plans, collection and evaluation of landscape change data.
Scope of work:
- Provision of technical assistance to local authorities, i.e. on-site consultation, provision of expertise, training according to specific needs.
- Coordination of project specialists - preparing internal work plans, monitoring the schedule of relevant activities and ensuring quality of outputs.
- Creation of expertise, studies and strategies, occasional fieldwork, data collection and monitoring.
- Representing the project in negotiations with public administration, NGOs and the private sector.
- Communication with the donor organisation as well as with project and implementing partners.
- Cooperation in the preparation of grant calls and public procurement for sub-components of the project, including participation in evaluation committees.
- Identification of risks related to the implementation of the project technical area, design and implementation of corrective measures.
- Identification and coordination of experts from the Czech Republic, EU and Zambia to provide technical expertise.
The position requires:
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. ecology, landscape engineering, environmental sciences or related fields).
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in one of the above areas, in an EU or international context.
- Experience working on international technical cooperation or development projects.
- Knowledge of English language at C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel).
- Excellent organisational, communication and presentation skills.
- Experience of working in developing countries an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with result-oriented mindset.
Expected start date/start date of cooperation:
Start date August/September 2025 or as agreed.
