Project significantly contributes to the preparedness of Georgia for extreme weather changes through expansion and modernization of National Environmental Agency’s meteorological and hydrological monitoring network. Projects added value is the knowledge transfer from the Czech Republic, which is guaranteed by the participation of Czech Hydrometeorological Institute in some of the project activities. This transfer of knowledge is especially valuable for the use of relational database for meteorology and hydrology. Main output of the project is the increased capacity of NEA in the area of the forecasting meteorological and hydrological threats in Georgia in order to reduce or mitigate the negative impacts of such threats. Increasing the NAE capacity, above all, includes the increasing of monitoring points, which will result in continuous flow of updated and reliable data. The project will also enable this data to be stored and analyzed, which will lead to early preparation of accurate forecasts and warnings. The project is viewed in Georgia as an important contribution in the area of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). The supply of meteorogical stations, hydrological software, including the induction, and necessary hardware was conducted in 2012. Furthermore, the preparatory construction works for hydrological and meteorogical network of stations were done. In the frame of the project, the construction of the automatic hydrological stations network was started, and the supply of ultrasound measuring device ADCP was conducted.
