The main objective of the project is to increase the yield of the wells in the “Drinking Water Central Resource Area” for the city of Ulaanbaatar and to provide enough high-quality drinking water for the new districts of the city through rehabilitation of water resources, which face not only a growing risk of contamination due to the heavy traffic and new construction sites but also technical problems and a low level of groundwater table. The works of the project include the design of the proposal for groundwater protection and the training program for technical management, mechanical and chemical recovery of wells, submersible camera examinations, hydrodynamic testing and laboratory analysis, creation of technical documentation of new profiles, verification and correcting data for all wells and the incorporation of new data into the database. Handing know-how and technical equipment to Mongolian recipients is also a part of the project.
