The cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the countries of the Western Balkan has had a long tradition for several years. As part of the program in 2012, the project of unexploded ammunition removal from the Sava river was implemented by the Department of Special Diving Activities and Training within the Police of the Czech Republic. Based on the request of the Bosnian side, this project will continue also in 2013. Except of removing the unexploded ammunition from the river of Sava, there are also going to be training courses for the police divers from the countries of the Western Balkan that will be held in Montenegro.
The main objective of this project is to strengthen the capacity of the Bosnian police unit, including its equipment, to be able to perform an independent action even in complicated conditions (finding and rescuing drowned people, crime scene investigation, separate collection of unexploded ammunition, etc.). The attention should be focused on the principles of safe diving in the different depths and the principles and methods of work of the police divers. In the future, trained and educated divers could be certified by the Police of the Czech Republic.
The Czech Development Agency has joined the project at the request of the Bosnian side. Together with the Police of the Czech Republic and SIPA CzDA has prepared a list of equipment that will help the SIPA diving unit to carry out independent actions. The equipment consists of a scuba gear (including the boat) and is going to be delivered to Bosnia and Herzegovina until the end of this year.
